Joshua Tree

Joshua Tree is a huge climber’s destination but anybody interested in beautiful desert scenery would enjoy a week or two here!

Climbing Quality: Climbers need no introduction to Joshua Tree…perhaps the world’s most visited climbing destination? For a reason!

Camping: It’s $10/night with no water (you can drive 20+ miles one-way to the visitor center if you need to refill some jugs) but wow, what a setting. And if you stay outside of Hidden Valley Campground you may be able to get some real solitude. We had the Ryan Campground completely to ourself a few times during our visit!

Rest Day Activities: Check out the Barker Dam, visit the Cholla Cactus Garden, hike into the Wonderland of Rocks, try eating the edible fruit of a cactus. Or poke around one of the many old gold mines but you might want to stay out of mine shafts for legal reasons and your own safety!
