Tying the Knot

Matt proposed a week before Halloween 2004. We decided to make a nice meal that day except it ended up with a nearly burnt down kitchen (long story). After the meal, Matt knelt down and proposed, I thought he was joking at first but he was not. On Halloween night, we announced the engagement to his family and decided to get married the week after Thanksiving. It was a nice and short engagement šŸ™‚

Since none of my family members are in US and we had both just recently graduated and didn’t have much money, we decided to have a small wedding consisting of about 40 people, mostly Matt’s relative and a few of my friends. I thought it would be hard at first because of the culture difference. In Chinese culture, it is customary to have the groom’s family to pay for everything for the wedding. They see it as the family losing their daughter and they need to make sure she is well taken care of. However, in US, it’s the total opposite. George and Debbie were very understanding and helpful and gave us a very beautiful and eventful wedding.
