New climbing area

Filed under: Climbing — joannestamplis @ 8:27 am

Last weekend when we were in REI, shopping for the 20% discounted black diamond cams, we met this guy who told us about a new climbing area in Oregon. He also gave us some information on how to obtain a guidebook on the area, raving the area as a better climbing destination than the lower gorge of Smith Rock. After looking at the guidebook which is really great deal with lots of colorful pics, we decided that this might be our next destination to check out. The cracks are supposed to be very similar to Indian Creek but so much closer to home for us. There are many moderate 5.10s routes that definitely got our attention. Our main worry is having enough gears to climb there since the guidebook didn’t really go into details on the pro. Another issue is I don’t know how dog friendly is this place because the guidebook said only the top cragging dog can handle all the boulder hopping for the approach. Maybe we have to go there and check it out first before deciding to bring Yogi with us. Anyway, depending on the weather this coming weekend, we might go and check this place out and hopefully get some nice pics to post here.
